Counseling FAQ Huntsville, AL and North Alabama
Who does the practice work with?
The practice primarily serves adolescents and adults across Alabama who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, addiction-related concerns, veteran and military-family experiences, or major life transitions. Clinical fit is considered individually.
Are you accepting new clients?
Current availability is shown through the secure scheduling portal. Scheduling a 15-Minute Clarity Call is the first step in discussing your needs, possible fit, and next steps.
How do I get started?
Start by booking a 15-Minute Clarity Call. The call provides an opportunity to share what brings you to counseling, ask practical questions, and discuss whether the outpatient telehealth model may be appropriate for your needs.
What happens during a Clarity Call?
A 15-Minute Clarity Call is a brief conversation about what brings you in, what you hope to address, and whether the outpatient telehealth model may be an appropriate fit. The therapist can answer practical questions about the counseling process, session options, current fees, and possible next steps.
The call is not a therapy session, diagnostic evaluation, emergency service, or guarantee that counseling will begin.
How much does counseling cost?
The practice is private-pay and out-of-network. Session options and current fees are discussed during the 15-Minute Clarity Call so you can understand the process before deciding whether to begin.
A Good Faith Estimate is provided when required or requested under applicable rules. Current fees are not listed publicly.
Do you accept insurance?
The practice does not bill insurance directly. Out-of-network reimbursement may be available through some insurance plans, but reimbursement is not guaranteed. Clients should verify benefits directly with their insurance plan.
Documentation and practical insurance questions can be discussed during the 15-Minute Clarity Call.
Do I need a referral for counseling?
A referral is not generally required to schedule a 15-Minute Clarity Call. Some insurance plans or referral sources may have their own requirements, so clients should verify those requirements directly with the appropriate organization.
How do I attend my appointment?
All sessions take place by telehealth. You meet with the therapist online from a private space. There is no in-person office appointment option at this time.
Where do I need to be located for a telehealth session?
You must be physically located in Alabama during each counseling session. Clients must accurately identify their physical location at each session.
Do you see clients outside Alabama?
No. Counseling sessions are provided only when the client is physically located in Alabama at the time of the session, subject to applicable law, clinical appropriateness, and availability.
Is telehealth private and secure?
Sessions take place through the practice’s secure telehealth platform, and scheduling and intake are handled through the secure ClientSecure portal. Clients should join sessions from a private location and use a personal device or secure connection when possible. Privacy is protected within applicable legal, ethical, and safety requirements.
What kind of counseling approach do you use?
Care is relationship-centered and trauma-informed, drawing on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT-informed skills, grounding, somatic practices, and Motivational Interviewing when clinically appropriate.
The therapist considers each client’s goals, circumstances, and clinical needs rather than following a scripted process.
Do you offer faith-based or Christian counseling?
Faith-integrated support is optional. Counseling can remain fully secular for clients who prefer that approach, or faith may be included when requested by the client.
What concerns can counseling address?
Common areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma-related stress, addiction recovery, co-occurring mental health and substance-use concerns, veteran and military-family experiences, and major life transitions. You can review the counseling services page for an overview of the practice’s service areas.
The 15-Minute Clarity Call is an opportunity to discuss whether a concern fits the practice’s outpatient scope.
What is the cancellation policy?
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be billed. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for genuine life events and emergencies.
What if I am experiencing a crisis?
This website, contact form, and Clarity Call are not emergency services and are not continuously monitored.
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For mental-health crisis support in the United States, call or text 988. Do not use this website or scheduling system for urgent crisis assistance.
